GI Capital Management Ltd. (“GICAM”) and Commonfund Capital (“Commonfund”), U.S. asset management company, jointly held the “Commonfund Forum Tokyo 2023” on October 12, 2023. This was the first time in four years that the event was held in Japan, and it was a great success once again, attracting a wide range of participants, including investors from pension funds, universities, and financial institutions, as well as securities firms, asset management companies, consulting firms, government officials, and researchers.
The event featured a keynote speech by Mark Anson, CEO/CIO of the Commonfund, who has served as CIO of CalPERS, the largest pension fund in the U.S., as well as a guest speaker, Martin Casado, General Partner of Andreesen Horowitz, a world-renowned venture capital firm, provided cutting-edge insights and perspectives on the future of artificial intelligence (AI).
Since its founding in 1971, the Commonfund has played a leading role in the U.S. by providing a wide range of investment management information and services to long-term investors, particularly endowments and foundations, such as universities, pensions, and hospitals. In Japan, Commonfund has also steadily built a track record of success, beginning with the Commonfund Forum held in Tokyo in 2019, and has gained the support of a wide range of investors.
